Blake Hamilton and Heidi Savoie are an emerging jazz duo, performing classics from the Great American Songbook and contemporary pop tunes as well as original compositions.
Back in the summer of 2017, the duo began appearing regularly at a bookstore downtown and winning the hearts of book-lovers with their signature blend of baritone and alto vocals against an infectious piano-bass groove. “If you’re going to be here again, next time I’ll bring a friend!” said one listener. Since then these two have played numerous shows and private events, including venues such as DROM Taberna, the Tranzac and more!
Heidi and Blake are available for weddings, parties or other events throughout Toronto and the GTA. Recently they have also been playing as a trio, with drummer Alex Raymond.
Blake Hamilton is a string player and composer who studied at the University of Toronto. Blake has been taking and making opportunities as a musician for many years, and brings a wealth of performance experience on the Toronto music scene. This musical philosophy has led him to develop versatility between genres and facility over multiple instruments. Saying yes where opportunity strikes has opened the door for plenty of interdisciplinary collaboration. Some of his recent work includes the score of the multiple award-winning film Erika.
Heidi Savoie is a jazz pianist and vocalist. She comes from what is best described as a modern Von Trapp family, who know singing and playing as their only normal way to live. After years of classical training in the Royal Conservatory, she developed a deep love of the jazz tradition and studied under world-class musicians at York University and began performing in Toronto. Heidi draws inspiration from Nat King Cole, Diana Krall, Ella Fitzgerald and Laila Biali, bringing a timeless feel to contemporary music.
